The race to be the “next Skype” is well and truly under-way, with Reuters running an article earlier this month highlighting who has set the pace so far.

Finnish firm Alekstra appears to be at the front of the pack currently, with their global corporate service due to launch in 2014.

However Swedish firm Rebtel has already signed up 17 million users itself.

With the Telecoms market valued at 628 billion globally, we will be keeping a keen eye on who manages to cross the line in first place.
